“Better Days” - Game

Game comes out with a track similar to “My Life” that, like they said over at thecoolestout, could very easily hit the radios soon. A deeper, honest track with a soft beat and slow rapping, I’m digging it.

“Samsonite Man” (ft. Blu) - Fashawn

This track could easily be a favorite of the month. Always hungry for verses from Blu, and Fashawn does it as well. Production by Exile is killing it!
Look out your window, honey, and I’ll be gone
Been waiting impatiently all day for the release of this new Chiddy Bang mixtape, “The Swelly Express.” Love these guys! And a feature from Black Thought!
This mixtape is an absolute must-have. Don’t sleep!
“Say Something (Freestyle)”-Lupe Fiasco
Lupe jumps on the Timbaland (ft. Drake) beat and reminds me why he’s my favorite rapper of all time. Complicated rhyme schemes that flow smoothly and have some real content. This is the Lupe I love…not the Japanese Cartoon/rocker Lu.
BET Awards 2009 Cypher: Mos Def, Black Thought, Eminem
Not even kidding…the only thing that came out of my mouth for about 5 minutes after I watched this (then continued to stare at the screen with an open-jawed smile and wide eyes) was “holy shit.” Eminem KILLED it. See for yourself and if you disagree, send me a video of yourself (or someone else I suppose) doing a better job.
Used to bomb ya like Saddam but now that I’m a little calmer
I’m a fuckin cross between Osama, Dahmer, Obama, and Dalai Lama

“Speed of Sound” (ft. Big Sean) - Mike Posner

My boy Mike Posner’s mixtape dropped a day early and I’m here to share it with you! Sorry I’m a bit late…I got my hands on it last night before I knew he would be okay with it spreading…so I didn’t want to spread the leak until I heard from him. But incase you haven’t downloaded it yet, download it here. Features include Kid Cudi, Big Sean, Bun B, XV, and more. Great production on the tape. Speed of Sound is my favorite so far. Dropping an Enya sample on a hip hop song? Ridiculous.
I am also obsessed with the art on the mixtape cover. I was talking about it last night and my interpretation is as such: his first mixtape explained how it was only “A Matter of Time” until he was famous. Now he’s got “One Foot Out the Door” with one still in school at Duke (and that foot has the clocks behind him that you saw from his first mixtape cover where he’s sitting in class at a desk), the other foot is going out into the world filled with Salvidor Dali-esque clocks…symoblizing surrealist artwork. Surrealism…it’s all surreal what he’s walking into so quickly, while still keeping one foot in school. I love it. Very clever.

LIVE: “Relator” - Scarlett Johnansson and Pete Yorn
She has a beautiful voice. He is beautiful (and his voice is too). Together they make a song beautiful. What more could I ask for?
Side note: It’s funny how Scarlett looks a little nervous on stage. Girl, far fewer people are watching this than the movies you put on the big screens.

This band from Queens is really doing it for me. They formed late last year and just might become one of the bands of the year! They typically have electro/synth-heavy tones with a smooth voice that classifies it as pop. They tend to make music out of anything they can possibly find and make noise with, which is always a plus in my opinion-cheers to creativity! Their common instuments: harmonium, banjo, glockenspiel, synths, guitars, bass, drums, and waterphone. All 5 featured tracks are from their debut album “Weathervanes,” released in August of this year.
Edit: Another track out by Freelance Whales. Download “Broken Horse”
LIVE: “Baby Please Don’t Go” - Mike Posner
Expect this track, the one that opens his WebSeries videos, to be on his mixtape, “One Foot Out The Door,” out this Thursday!
Kid Cudi at MTV Ulalume Festival.
This spaceship/NASA-like entrance is just one more reason why I’m doing to go to a Cudi show. Someone want to buy me tickets and a flight to wherever the show is!?!?!?!
“Soles of Fire” - Chaueffeur (Mark Ronson, Sam Sparro, & Theophilus London)

The lineup of this song speaks for itself!
“Letter” (ft. John Mayer) - Wale

John Mayer and Wale…interesting duo. I like the concept of this song-written as a letter (of course reminds me of “Stan” by Eminem, though not similar), and to throw John Mayer on the hook adds bonus points! Sounds like classic John Mayer, and though I still think Wale sounds pretty much the same as he always does (no diversity in his flow. Almost ever.), I like this track.
